My name is Arti, and I’m the creative mind behind Forage & Sustain.
Forage & Sustain is an online publication based out of Toronto, that aims to change the way we live through sustainable practices and slow living. We intend to create a thriving online community where we feature brands dedicated to social good, so that we can spread the message of conscious consuming.
I started Forage & Sustain midway through 2017 after feeling like something was missing from my life of freelance writing and running my online boutique paper shop, Owl and Oak. At first, I couldn’t conceive of what it was that I wanted to do. After some insightful meditation and chats with my best friend, it dawned on me that the things I found myself drawn to were the things I should focus my energy on. The things that I was most uncomfortable with in the world were the state of the environment, poor ethics in consumerism, and the loss of ritual and self-care. I’ve lived in and traveled to a bunch of countries, and what themes I noticed the most reoccurring on these journeys was that of tradition and century-old practices. I wanted to bring back the days of when we bought products that were meant to last, when fashion was about craftsmanship and design rather than overworked factory hands, and when we took the time to relax and really take care of ourselves. I realized that there are many people who are feeling this sort of disconnect with the world, and there are also many people who want to live more sustainably, but don’t know how, or think that sustainability means compromising on style. So, here came my idea of blending the things I love – writing, good design and conscious consuming.
Forage & Sustain was thus born – a curated site of ethical brands that are killing it with their design, dedication to their causes and giving back to the world in a positive way. This platform is for all of us, to educate ourselves and others, a one-stop shop for everything just in a variety of different categories, and a quiet place to reflect and inspire.
Thanks for stopping by and becoming a fellow forager!
